Teresa's Story

Please tell us about your journey to StayWell, what led you to us, where does your story begin?

"My journey to StayWell began when I was diagnosed with cancer and started my treatments at Princess Margaret Hospital. I live over two hours away, so traveling back and forth for my appointments was a huge challenge, especially while undergoing intensive therapy. When I needed to undergo five weeks of radiation, StayWell offered me a beautiful, fully furnished apartment just a short walk from the hospital. This incredible resource allowed me to focus on my recovery without the stress of long drives. I have been fortunate enough to stay with StayWell on multiple occasions, and each experience has been better than the last. Their thoughtful accommodations have made a world of difference during a very difficult time. StayWell is truly an invaluable resource, and I am so grateful for everything they have done for me."

Where did you have to relocate from? How was the journey from home to Toronto?

“I live in Brantford, and with traffic, the journey to Toronto is at least two and a half hours one way. It’s a long and tiring trip, so having access to this incredible resource has made a huge difference in my ability to focus on my treatment without the added stress of such a long commute.”

What were the things you found difficult? How did StayWell help?

“From day one, the most difficult part was driving after treatments, especially having to sit in traffic for long periods. It was physically and mentally exhausting. StayWell made a huge difference by offering me a place to stay just a short walk from the hospital. This allowed me to focus on my recovery — I could finish my treatment and rest, rather than battling traffic. StayWell truly took away that stress and made a challenging time so much easier to manage.”

What were the positive aspects of your stay?

“Everything about my stay was fantastic. I was provided with a fully furnished apartment that had all the amenities I needed, making it feel like home. I could cook if I wanted to, and I was close to everything. Whatever I needed was easily accessible, which made my stay so much more comfortable and stress-free.”

Would you recommend StayWell to other patients in need of access to medical care in Toronto?
